We hope everyone’s summers are off to a great start! Summer 2016 here on Ocracoke has been off to a busy and fantastic beginning. The crowds are roaring in, and we’ve been busy hosting wedding parties and family vacations from all over. Since our wedding season officially kicked in the last couple months, we have been receiving similar inquiries from prospective brides and grooms. We thought we’d share some of these questions with our responses since they might be helpful when planning your wedding or next trip. Next week, we plan to share many of the family vacation rental questions we receive as well for your reference. If you are thinking of visiting Ocracoke, please feel free to reach us to us. We love company and helping others create lasting memories.
Q: What are your standard wedding packages?
A: We create custom packages for every wedding party based on how you plan to utilize the Berkley Manor. We do have a document that we can email that includes special rates and packages for parties from 20-300, based on use of the inside of the house and the outside grounds. Additional options include lodging, in-house catering, or recommendations for local vendors (wedding coordinators, photographers, musicians, rental companies, and florists). Prices for these standard and custom packages range based on the season.
Q: We are interested in visiting the Berkley Manor and taking a tour before choosing a wedding date. When do you have tours?
A: If you are interested in scheduling a tour, please call or email us. We try to be flexible on scheduling times based on people’s availability. We are available most week days and weekends.
Q: Because you have to get to Ocracoke via ferry, how do we coordinate with vendors for wedding plans and details?
A: Whether you are planning to use a wedding coordinator for your special day or not, we work with many of the Outer Banks vendors for weddings. We, in addition to wedding coordinators, are very familiar with the necessary timing of rentals and vendors to make sure all the details are in place. We recommend using many of the wedding vendors on Ocracoke (coordinators, officiants, caterers, florists, musicians, and photographers), but we have a history of working with other Outer Banks vendors and are happy to do so.
Q: We are planning to have our ceremony and reception at the Berkley. In addition, we would like to reserve lodging for our immediate family. How many people can the Berkley sleep and what are the room accommodations?
A: The Berkley can sleep up to 18 guests. Room accommodations include:
- two family style rooms with two twin beds, one full bed, and full private bath
- one master bedroom with one king bed, Jacuzzi tub + full private bath
- one queen suite with two queen beds, Jacuzzi tub + full private bath
- one suite bedroom containing a single queen bed, queen size pullout sofa, full bathroom, private patio entrance and tv
Q: Where is the Berkley Manor located as compared to the rest of the island?
A: The Berkley is located on Water Plant Road. It is right across the street from the Cedar Island and Swan Quarter ferries (making travel convenient) and has a beautiful looking over Silver Lake. Many of the popular restaurants and shops are within walking minutes.
