(Drumroll) It is our honor, to introduce the Mr. and Mrs. Bushong! We could not be more thrilled to share that the second wedding of the season took place at the Berkley Manor August 13. COVID has impacted the course of events and weddings throughout the year, but we are happy to be part of this show that must go on.
In a beautiful, intimate ceremony with immediate family, Meg and Mike tied the knot with the historic Berkley Manor as their backdrop. It was a cooler summer day with light rain drops sprinkling here and there. As you know, they say it is good luck to have it rain on your wedding day. With overcast skies, the subtle blue in the clouds reflected perfectly off the various shades of blue in the guests’ dress-up clothes. Totally natural and unplanned yet so complete. It was beautiful, and I cannot wait to see how photographer Daniel Pullen captured the afternoon. Officiant Nancy Leach of Ocracoke Occasions performed the ceremony. The pure joy and love Meg and Mike have for each other is magical. Standing there before one another it was as if they had waited their whole lives for the special moment and the exchange of “I do.” And then they were announced as husband and wife. After their time walking down the grassy isle in celebration as man and wife, the intimate family gathering transitioned inside for a plated dinner reception. We owe a special thank you to our friends at OcracokeStyle for decorating our dining room tables and assisting with flower arrangements as well as Zillies for preparing the evening’s catering of seafood and poultry. The scene inside the dining room was just as romantic with the scent of fresh flowers lingering in the air, lightly dimmed candles offering an amorous glow and refreshing pink and green flowers adding accent colors to the wooden interior. Just beautiful! It was a jubilant occasion with each guest grinning from ear to ear. What we can take away from this wedding is at the end of the day what matters most is being with those you love and doing what makes you happy.
COVID has definitely impacted the wedding plans and details of couples everywhere. However, the smaller weddings we have been part of this year have been so special. It is truly heart-warming to witness two people move forward with their intentions and begin a new and happy journey together in their book of life.
