As we shortly transition from summer to fall, it gives us the opportunity to reflect on another season passed and another one quickly approaching. The summer of 2016 has been a good one. Knocking on wood, we can hopefully say we survived the hurricane threats, continuous rain, and intense heat. With the weather cooperating, we have had a handful of absolutely exquisite weddings and other outstanding vacation groups and dinner parties. One of the highlights to hosting such a venue is having the chance to meet people from all parts of the country and even world as groups choose to make Ocracoke, NC their vacation or event destination. As we enjoy meeting all of our guests and getting to know them, their stories remind us why we love Ocracoke and feel fortunate to call this special place home.
Looking to the future, fall is a quieter time on the island, but it is also one of the best times of the year. The air is crisp, the temperatures are cool, the fireplace is cozy, and the fishing bite is hot. This last feature is one of our favorites and also one of the many reasons Ocracoke is such a draw. The Outer Banks boasts some of the best fishing on the East Coast. Whether you’re meat fishing or trolling for billfish, it is safe to say Ocracoke will yield you fish. In fact, if we’re not coordinating a wedding, hosting a dinner party, or welcoming guests, you’ll find us offshore. A quick 18-mile run to the Gulf Stream, the open seas offer a chance to break away, clear one’s head, delight in God’s creation, and enjoy a new fishing adventure. We recommend any of the captains here as far as booking your next trip. There still remains some availability for lodging this fall so make plans to visit Ocracoke and create fishing memories of your own.
