Berkley Events recently participated in the 2021 Ocracoke Fig Festival. It was a fun-filled weekend with various events and vendors taking place at the Berkley Barn over the course of three days. The Barn served as the venue for most of the festival’s schedule.
The 2021 festival took place August 5-7. The itinerary for the community event featured both local and visiting artists, musicians, and chefs in addition to arts and crafts, bake-off competitions, lectures, live musical performances, and vendors with gifts for sale. Thursday evening’s program was slightly different. It included a private dinner for 75 with guest of honor Vivian Howard (North Carolina chef, cookbook author, restaurant owner and TV personality). Guests for the evening enjoyed heavy fig hors d’oeuvres and tea from Ocracoke restaurants along with live music from Ocracoke’s Molasses Creek. It was a beautiful event and well attended, selling out of tickets in just 25 minutes. Those who were not able to attend had other opportunities to meet Vivian Howard during the festival. She held a book signing Friday afternoon and also participated in a Q&A session Saturday morning. Inside the Barn, the festival also offered children’s crafts and activities, fig tea, beer, and baked goodies, jewelry and gifts. The Fig Festival was a figtastic event with attendees visiting from all areas of North Carolina and beyond. There has been discussion of the tradition continuing next year.
We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Fig Festival as the event venue. A special “thank you” is due to the event organizers and volunteers who hosted the successful festival.
