WEDDINGS, WEDDINGS, WEDDINGS! May is one of our favorite months of the year on Ocracoke Island. The weather is perfect. Businesses are open. And there is a small chance for a severe storm. It is also an absolutely gorgeous time of year to hold a destination wedding. Some of our Berkley couples must agree.
Saturday, May 15th we had the honor of celebrating Erin and Billy’s wedding on the Berkley grounds. The two have been absolutely so sweet to work with; we have had such a ball helping them plan their beautiful day. Erin and Billy were visiting Ocracoke while another wedding was taking place. After their tour of the Berkley, they were able to envision their special day on the island and had beautiful ideas in mind of how they imagined their ceremony and reception to appear. It was decided that the ceremony would take place in front of the Berkley Barn with the reception to follow flowing right into the Barn interior with tables, chairs, and linens set in place. Ocracoke vendors played a major role in the couple’s wedding day. Flower arrangements made by Beach Blooms of Ocracoke adorned the fireplace mantles and dinner tables. They also prepared the wedding party’s bouquets and boutonnieres. Ocracoke Occasions served as the officiant for the ceremony, and family and friends witnessed Erin and Billy exchange “I Do” centered at the top of the barn stairs with their wedding party staggered down the stairs. It was beautiful. Following the ceremony, guests were able to catch up over cocktails on the Barn deck. Cocktail hour appetizers and dinner were prepared by Black Pelican Catering, another wedding vendor part of the Outer Banks Wedding Association. The wedding cake was made with extra love for the newly-weds as Erin’s aunt baked it from scratch. During the reception, heartfelt toasts and words of encouragement were shared by family members. The reception was set up so that it was spacious enough for mingling and dancing, but the space still gave off a warm appearance. The evening concluded with lots of dancing and tunes mixed by Ocracoke’s DJ Tommy Hutcherson. It was a great evening, and we thank Erin and Billy for trusting us with our wedding services. We are thrilled for them to begin this next chapter as husband and wife.
